Maxima Impact Consulting held another flagship event in the Impact Academy Series with the topic “Impact Measurement Using SROI” on September 12-13, 2024. The event was held online and attended by various professionals from the sustainability, community development, and impact management sectors. The main objective of the event was to equip participants with practical skills in social impact measurement using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) method. Guided by an experienced instructor, Salman Noersiwan is a Monitoring and Evaluation expert with more than 20 years of experience in various sustainability projects and impact evaluation. This event aims to provide an in-depth understanding of the importance of measuring the social impact generated by organizations and companies.
SROI (Social Return on Investment) is the measurement method chosen as one of the tools to calculate the social value generated from an investment or program. Through SROI, organizations and companies can measure the extent to which the programs run have a significant social impact and connect these values with concrete economic benefits.
“These benefits include calculating the various social, environmental, and economic impacts generated, as well as calculating the ratio between the social value created and the investment spent.” said Salman.
Anggi Gayatri Setiawan, organizer and Head of Sustainability Learning & Advisory Maxima Impact Consulting, emphasized the importance of companies implementing SROI to increase credibility and trust from stakeholders. “Well-planned social impact measurement through SROI not only helps companies understand their contribution to society, but can also increase transparency and attract investors who care about Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria,” she said. Anggi also emphasized that without proper impact measurement, companies risk missing out on greater profit potential and long-term relationships with stakeholders.
Not only providing theoretical explanations, the Impact Academy class also provides case studies that are relevant to the current industry situation. One of the advantages of this class is the applicative approach that allows participants to perform SROI calculations directly using templates provided by the instructor. In addition, participants also get the opportunity to join group discussions that enrich their understanding of social impact management, supported by facilitators who are ready to provide guidance throughout the learning process. Certificates, class recordings, as well as access to SROI calculation templates are also available to all participants after the class.
“The main objective of this class is to ensure that participants not only understand the concept of SROI, but can also apply this method to support sustainability strategies in their companies,” Anggi explained. By mastering SROI, companies can more effectively demonstrate their commitment to social and environmental responsibility with real impact.
