In an effort to improve transparency and accountability for sustainability of art in Indonesia, Yayasan Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja (PSBK) is collaborating with Maxima Impact Consulting to develop a more structured impact measurement. PSBK has been facing challenges in effectively measuring and reporting the impact of their activities. With funding from the Dana Indonesiana program of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendikbud RI), PSBK started this project in 2024.
Maxima Impact Consulting launched the Impact Management Enhancement Program to help PSBK identify and measure the impact of their vision, mission, and activities. The project started with an impact measurement workshop with Salman Noersiwan Bachtiar, Associate Expert of Maxima Impact Consulting, 15-16/7.
The program is planned to last until October 2024 during which period there is intensive guidance to the PSBK team.
In the process, PSBK is invited to re-map the documentation of activities that have been carried out and integrate them with the organization’s vision. “This is the main foundation before measuring impact, namely evaluating the extent to which PSBK activities have had a positive impact and identifying their alignment with PSBK’s vision. With this process, we hope to create a deep reflection on the effectiveness of the program,” Salman explained.
Trustee and founder of the Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja Foundation (PSBK), Butet Kartaredjasa welcomed the workshop. “The process of exchanging ideas about impact can really help PSBK Foundation to self-identify and map the problems that will be faced by the foundation. This is very good for the sustainability of PSBK Foundation in the future,” she said.
Based on the analysis of the problems faced by PSBK, Maxima brings innovation in impact measurement by introducing a more holistic evaluation method. Jeannie Park, Executive Director of Padepokan Seni Bagong Kussudiardja Foundation, said the workshop provided a new reference for PSBK Foundation in looking at the annual report.
“Usually, PSBK’s annual report only covers the output of activities, but with Maxima’s guidance, PSBK can now measure outcomes and impacts more comprehensively. This project allows PSBK to align its vision with its activities, creating a deeper reflection on the effectiveness of the program,” said Jeannie.
Shabiya Rasyid as Project Manager expressed her hope. “Hopefully from this impact report, PSBK will be much more transparent and accountable in reporting the impact of their activities. This is a big step in the history of arts organizations to make reliable and measurable reports. We hope this can be a model for other organizations in measuring and reporting their impact.”
With a more comprehensive impact report, PSBK can not only fulfill audit and reporting needs, but also increase stakeholder trust. This project is expected to be a stepping stone for PSBK to continue increasing its contribution to arts and culture in Indonesia.
