In order to form Vocational High School (SMK) students with character, talent, and impact, the Directorate of SMK under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbud Ristek) launched the Pijar SMK Program. The program aims to encourage SMK students across Indonesia to develop their potential through a series of online and offline training based on soft skills, creativity, and leadership.
With the theme “Profile of an Ideal Vocational Student,” Pijar SMK not only serves as a platform for self-potential exploration, but also equips participants with relevant skills to compete in the global era. This program reflects Kemendikbud Ristek’s commitment in supporting the implementation of the Pancasila Student Profile values in the SMK environment.
Co-designed with Maxima Impact Consulting, the Pijar SMK Program provides six structured training phases, starting from self-exploration to social project implementation. In the First Phase, participants are invited to conduct a self-assessment through a “Self-Exploration” session to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and potential that can be developed. The Second and Third Phases continued with soft skills training such as communication, creativity, and digital content creation.
Furthermore, in the Fourth and Fifth Phases, participants are trained to create an impact strategy to ensure that the positive impact of their project can be continued in their respective school environment on an ongoing basis.
Furthermore, in the culminating phase, participants conduct the AKSI Project. This phase encourages participants to apply their learning through social initiatives in the school community. The best projects from each province will be presented in an offline session as well as an awards night at the end of the program.
The program features various experienced resource persons, such as Vivid F. Anggraeni, a communication expert who gave a session on digital communication and self-image, as well as teams from Dit. SMK and Maxima Impact Consulting who supported the development of social project implementation strategies. The learning process is supported through intensive coaching modules and evaluation tools such as pre-test, post-test, and project assessment to monitor participants’ progress.
As part of the education transformation initiative, Pijar SMK targets 10th and 11th grade vocational students from 34 provinces to participate. “Through this program, we hope to build a generation of SMK students who are able to become role models in their character, talents, and contributions in their communities,” said Project Manager of Pijar SMK, Shoraya Annisa. The program is expected to produce alumni who are not only competent in academics, but also have leadership skills and global insights.
